(A thank you letter to Dennis McNett)

In the beginning, there was a call…
“HooooOOOOOoooowwwllll”...
The wolves cried out, “let there be community!”
The pack assembled and it was good.
Alpha Wolf graciously supplied the material, birthed from the earth and the imagination. The wolves transformed the materials, creating incarnations of a multitude of beasts from the realms of the sea to the sky and everything in between.
Wolves of every age gathered side by side to witness the unfolding of each others’ creations. Together, sharing in the joy and struggles, as the creatures took shape.
Elders provided wisdom and steady paws to the younger generations. The pups provided immeasurable imagination and energy creating authentic collaboration.
Entrance into the Flow Dimension deafened the call of hunger cues; the wolves ate ravenously. Sleep became elusive. And yet the pack continued to gather…
Minutes stretched into hours, hours into days. Temporality dissipated revealing the inherent nature of the present.
The Alpha Wolf observed…
The Alpha Wolf shared wisdom…
The Alpha Wolf led by example…
With the horde of beasts in their final formations, the pack reunited on the ceremonial grounds.
Alpha Wolf performed the cleansing ritual to prepare and offer up blessings upon the space before commencing the ceremony.
The rhythmic drums and raucous guitar resonated in the evening air. Wolves encircled the street adding their soulful howls to the cacophony.
The gods and their celestial kin were summoned from their respective realms; bonding the beasts with their ancestral lineage.
With an offering of gratitude lifted up for the homecoming of long ago stolen pups returned to their rightful homes, the ceremony began.
Wolfy van Kunstlerbat resided in the East, symbolizing the Spring, offering a blessing for new beginnings.
Hati held space in the South, portraying the elements of Summer where abundance dwells.
Fenris, the great wolf, was summoned in the West, honoring the season of Autumn with those who have passed, who offer guidance and intuition from the realm of the spirit.
Skol was the final witness, conjured in the North and representing Winter to remind the pack that the dormancy of the season allows space in which new things can enter.
With a final collective howl the wolves danced into the night, feeling interconnected and wholly alive.
