Artoberfest is Coming!

Artoberfest is a series of spectacular happenings coming to Norman this fall. Brought to you exclusively by downtown Norman’s independent art spaces and craft brewers, each event puts creativity and bold expression front and center.

Many of these happeningss are participatory and interactive, welcoming the public to get involved and add their expression to the celebration.

All of the happenings a celebration of creativity (in both art and brewing!) and a guaranteed fun time for specatators of all stripes.


Ink the Block ‘25

Ink The Block Party | September 19, 1:00 - 8:00 pm | in the lot behind Oscillator Press

Ink the Block is Normans premier art happening. It features live steamroller printing, artist vending, live mural painting, live music, art demonstrations, and more! Sponsored and put on by Oscillator Press, Opolis, and Uncanny Art House, this event draws artists and musicians from around the state. It’s a fun and spectacle-filled way to spend a late summer/early fall afternoon.

Brewtoberfest | October 3, 1:00 - 10:00 pm | The Depot

Brewtoberfest is Norman’s annual celebration of craft beer. Sponsored by Lazy Circles, Legally Brewed, and BIG Brewing, it’s an afternoon of beer tasting and appreciation, fun activities, and live music. The OU Print Club will be on hand live printing t-shirts with a mobile relief press. Come out, enjoy some amazing brew, and support local business and art!



Al Paldrok, Non Grata Performance, Tallinn, Estonia, 2016

Al Paldok Exhibition and Non Grata Performance | October 8, 6:00 - 9:00 pm | Uncanny Art House

Travelling all the way from Estonia, Al Paldrok will blow your mind with his amazing mixed media photos featuring images from past performances by his travelling performance art collectives Non Grata and Diverse Universe. This one-night-only reception will conclude with an unforgettable (truly) performance by Non Grata. If you’re a fan of danger and all things anarchy, you won’t want to miss it.

Reclamation of the Wolves by Dennis McNett | October 9, 7:00 pm | 300 Block of Main Street

A true community celebration spearheaded by the one-and-only Dennis McNett. All mask-wearers will be welcome to participate as Dennis leads a ceremonial call for love and respect followed by a live procession of mask-wearing revelers, a live drummer, and live guitarist down Main Street.

Dennis McNett Public Artist’s Talk | October 7, 5:00 | OU SoVA, Room 205

Come check out visting artist Dennis McNett (Virginia) as he takes you through his remarkable background as a printmaker and social practice artist. He will highlight his print work, many of the interactive public projects he’s done and answer your questions in anticipation of the performance he’ll be leading at Art Walk a couple nights later.

Mask-Making Workshop | October 5-8, 1:00 - 8:00 pm | Resonator

For those of you who want to participate in Reclamation of the Wolves.

Learn to make paper maché masks the Dennis McNett way! For a small materials fee, you can make your own tribal animal mask to wear while you participate in the “Reclamation of the Wolves” live procession during the October Art Walk (see below). Dennis will provide all the printed material, all you need to do is shape your carboard frame into the animal of your choice, then use his amazing patterns to adorn your creation. The results are spectacular! Workshop fee $30 (all materials incuded). Sign up here




Molten Metal | October 16, 8:00 | Lazy Circles Brewing

A high energy evening of live music and art making. Start the evening off with a live aluminum pour courtesy of the Sculpture Clubs from OU and ECU. Then head inside where local bands Bugnog and Emma Goldman Sachs will rock you into orbit as local artists Chris Johnson and Barry Zimmerman create 2-D works that astonish and delight. Lazy Circles will have the taps flowing through the night and the vibes will be off the hook.

Aluminum Scratch Plate Workshop | October 10, 1:00 - 4:00 | Lazy Circles Brewing

For those wanting to participate in the aluminum pour.

Learn to design and carve out your very own aluminum tile! Taught by OU Sculpture Tech extrordinaire Andy Denton, this fun and easy workshop will go through the basics of making a simple scrath mold. Your mold will then be cast at the Celebration of Metal on October 16 to create an aluminum tile for you to keep. Workshop fee $30— sign up here




A Night to Dismember | October 30, 7:00 | Starting at The Depot and moving on from there

Halloween for the grown-ups, benefiting the Norman Music Festival.

Calling all zombies! Drag your undead self downtown or get zombified with makeup tips from artists at the Depot. (Pub) Crawl downtown Norman hunting for hidden brains, then bring your rotting self to Jones Street for the Blood Harvest Ball - outdoor live music on Jones Street - Sisteria, King Witch Mother and more playing until the undead drop. Free to the public to attend, $20 wristband purchase (as a donation to NMF) for makeup, perks and door prize drawings for the scavenger hunt.
