Join Resonator in welcoming Portland, Oregon-based artist Britanny Powell Parich.
For over two decades, Brittany has found transcendence and humor in everyday experiences and humble materials. Her work reorganizes the way viewers think about common aspects of our visual culture and makes them contemplate how profound and ridiculous the most overlooked moments in our lives can be.
Food Stuffs is an exploration of grocery store product packaging using wood and paint. Through the simple act of removing the typography and presenting the block layouts of the designs themselves, the artist points out just how successful anonymous designers and marketers are at ingraining their visions into our shared consciousness.
Like most of Brittany’s work, it is modestly scaled, immaculately thought-out, and perfectly rendered.
Opening reception is Friday, September 11 at 6:00. The exhibition will remain up until September 24.
