Join us June Art Walk for a solo exhibition featuring local artist Carlos Colín.
Carlos was born 1978 in Mexico City, his paintings bring to life scenes that blur the lines between reality and the whispers of another world. Transcends mere depiction, becoming a portal to a realm where dreams and everyday life merge.
”I work in oil painting mainly, but I am versatile in mediums and techniques, landscapes and portraits of a magic realism. My aim is to capture the beauty of the unease, where what the eye sees brushes up against the otherworldly.”
“Historias y Cuentos” is an exhibition that explores the power of memory, storytelling, and magicalrealist imagination through oil paintings and curated objects. The show is built around the idea that memories are not fixed records—they are living narratives that shift, distort, and glow with emotion, as well as the understanding that the individual is not truly divided between childhood and adulthood; time merely oxidizes the body, while something essential remains unchanged. Even as society imposes rules on how an adult should behave, beneath them persists the quiet capacity to hold onto the spark of childhood—of wonder, of surprise, and of finding magic and imagination within small details of everyday life.
The exhibition blends magical realism, personal mythology, symbolic objects, inviting viewers to step into a world where the ordinary becomes enchanted and the images link a short story yet to be told.
The show is divided into two complementary sections, one oriented towards adults and one designed to captivate children, allowing the exhibition to speak across generations while maintaining a cohesive narrative identity.“
Opening reception is June 12 from 6:00 to 9:00. Exhibition available June 12 - 26.
