Join your host Maura McAndrew for this spring’s final installment of Sunday Scaries.
This month’s free screening will be the 1973 Terrence Malick cult classic Badlands, featuring a young Sissy Spacek and Martin Sheen.
Known for his meditative, exquisitely rendered films like Days of Heaven and The Tree of Life, Malick is already developing his style in Badlands (his debut feature), which is based on the true story of a young couple on a crime spree. From the Time Out New York: “Perversely lyrical and beautifully disquieting. Malick’s debut remains one of his strongest achievements…. niether Martin Sheen nor Sissy Spacek has ever been better.”
As always, the screening is 100% free and will kick off with backstory, production notes, and cultural context from Maura.
7:00 start — BYO snack and beverage if you like.
