Sunday Scaries presents "Don't Bother to Knock"

  • 325 E Main Street Norman, OK, 73069 United States (map)

Join your host Maura McAndrew for a free screening of Don’t Bother to Knock (1952).

Directed by the prolific British filmmaker Roy Ward Baker, this psychological thriller stars Marilyn Monroe as Nell Forbes, daughter of the elevator operator at NYC’s McKinley Hotel. Nell is hired to babysit for a pair of wealthy guests, and when she meets the airline pilot in the room across the way, things begin to unravel. Also starring Anne Bancroft as lounge singer, the film is a midnight-movie cult classic featuring a standout Monroe performance. From Crooked Marquee: “In one of her best and most underrated performances, Monroe brings genuine sorrow to a woman who’s been dismissed by the people in her life.”

Screening starts at 7:00 with production notes, backstory, and cultural context from Maura.
