Sunday Scaries presents: Shadow of a Doubt

  • 325 E Main Street Norman, OK, 73069 United States (map)

Join your host Mausa McAndrew for another installment of Sunday Scaries.

This month we have a true classic— Alfred Htchcock’s 1943 thriller Shadow of a Doubt, starring Joseph Cotten and Teresa Wright.

The film tells the uneasy story of the Newtons, a family living in sunny California domesticity. Teenage Charlie is feeling restless, until she gets some exciting news: her Uncle Charlie, the namesake she worships and adores, is coming to town for a visit. But what she doesn’t know is that Charlie the elder, charismatic and mysterious, is harboring some dangerous secrets.

From critis Dave Kehr: “Hitchcock’s first indisputable masterpiece… This discovery of darkness within the heart of smalltown America remains one of his most harrowing films, a peek behind the facade of security that reveals dispair, loneliness, and death. It’s Our Town turned inside out”

As always, Maura will kick things off with production notes, back story, and cultural context.

100% free! BYO food and drink if you like.
