Resonator is proud to offer this set of exciting, informative and engaging classes for kids and teens. Each class will be project-oriented and yield some form of fantastic creation. They are taught by working artists and art educators and the projects are designed to be educational, fun, and to introduce participants to accessible ideas, materials, and processes that they can build upon in their own time.
June 25: Charcoal Portrait Drawing with Tracy Gibson (Ages 13 - 18)
Charcoal is a material that lets its user to explore light/dark value and line variation with ease. In this class, teens will learn the basics of observational drawing with charcoal as they work from a live model to draw portraits. The instructor will focus on composition, shading, mark-making, and revision as she helps students express themselves with this expressive medium.

July 2: Experimental Drawing with Haley Prestifilippo (Ages 8 - 18)
Art is fun! In this class kids of all ages will learn to see drawing as a wide-open field of exploration that can be carried out with a wide variety of materials, techniques, and ideas. No rules, just an endless variety of options to explore and results to achieve.

July 9 @ 1:00: Screen Printing with Curtis Jones (Ages 13 - 18)
Teens who love drawing will love this class. They’ll learn to take their drawings and turn them into prints they can reproduce on paper, t-shirts, fabric, and any other flat surface.

July 16 @ 1:00: Laser Cut Linoleum Block Printing with Curtis Jones and Tanner Chambers (ages 8-12)
We’ll be joined by the Pioneer Library System’s Maker Mobile for this one. Kids will draw compositions on iPad tablets, then be able to have to have their drawings carved onto linoleum blocks using the PLS’s laser cutter. Blocks can then be used to print or used as rubber stamps.

July 23 @ 1:00: Glass Fusing with Emma Moorman (ages 10 -18)
In this class, students will learn to sculpt and create unique images using flat sheets of hand-cut colored glass and a kiln to melt it all together.

July 30 @ 1:00: Creating Cyanotypes with Lauren Dansby (ages 8-12)
Cyanotype is a photographic process that allows you to create images on fabric or paper using the sun as an exposure unit. This class will teach kids how easy and fun this process can be.

July 29 - August 6 (four sessions) Ceramics Workshop with Katherine Gaff, Lauren Dansby, Poet Clark, and Tracy Gibson (ages 8 - 18)
Take a deep dive into ceramics with this multi-session class. The first three sessions will teach and expand on different building techniques, the last session will cover glazing, coloring, and firing. Kids will create a variety of functional and non-functional ceramic objects to decorate the world around them.
Classes will run July 29, July 31, August 5, and August 7. All classes meet at 1:00.
