For May’s Art Walk, Resonator is proud to present the work of Denae Smith. Denae is an artist, healer, and entrepreneur based in Oklahoma City. Her work utilizes the human figure and abstraction to approach psychological, cultural, and racial issues.

In 2020, Denae founded the non-profit organization “Captivating my Creative Culture”, whose mission is to provide art materials and educational art opportunities to underserved communities in Oklahoma City. In her own word…

“My name is Denae Smith and I am an artist from Oklahoma City. My medium is acrylic paint along with using other textual elements within my work. I am constantly looking for ways to improve my knowledge and skills so that I can reach my full potential as an artist. My paintings show how I evolve as an individual as well as different phases of my life. As a college student studying health sciences pre-nursing I look to the human body for much of my work for it resembles endless possibilities and the culture that evokes what art means to me. “

Joining Denae for her first gallery exhibition will be her friend, fellow OKC artist Bryce Roberts.
