"Raised in the woods and often left in libraries as a child, I have been drawn to the power of myth persistantly through my life. These myths and stories have perserved and been transmuted through time across mediums and cultures as a testament to mankind's need to find wonder and magic in life. "

"There’s something to be said in holding a piece of magic. The sun rises, shines and so sets in a determinable fashion. We know the volume and contents of the universe andso we have been swindled of our magic. There are no heroes delivering us fire or serpents Devouring The sun. Our shelves have emptied of their wonder. We have forgotten languages, legends, the joy of ambiguity and so have forgotten how to craft magic. There are no gods in this age- no beasts of burden or benevolence because we have lost the fire in our minds and our bellies and our hearts that gave them form. So I give you these pages from the book of matches so that you may go forth and light new fires; so you might find something to understand to explain the things you can’t. May your creativity run on, unbridled!
The doodle is both the genesis of creativity and a synthesis of interests- an aestheticamalgam of images and stories that reveal the fascination of the doodler as much as they bring wonder to the observer. I take cues from the power that Mythology holds over man- apparent in bestiaries, the wunderkammer, Nordic runes, the horror Vacuii, and all other forms of the natural transfigured by legendand creative thought into the supernatural.Preoccupation with these motifs has conjured my own subconscious blend of magic, which owes as much as it does to the aforementioned as to modern day animation, graphic novels and tabletop role-playing games. I pull from this dense intersection of interests and find joy in the beings that emerge within the pages of my sketchbook. I do not delve into their origins as this saps them of their power to hold wonder and generate narrative. They were unknown, and now they exist. I create images that serve to catalyze mysticthought. I am fascinated by the esoteric nature of mythand the human inclination to explain both the mundane and fantastic. By Mining The past and Present to produce new narratives And narrators I am able to reintroduce the joy of myth into the world."
